Why I won't blast your siding with high pressure (even if you ask)

Vinyl and painted siding aren't like concrete. They're not built to be hit with 3,000 PSI. Doing that:

• Forces water behind seams and into wall cavities
• Etches and cracks paint
• Warps vinyl panels near seams
• Voids most siding warranties

I've seen the aftermath of high-pressure siding jobs — the water intrusion doesn't show up for a year, and then it shows up as a mold problem in the wall.

Soft-washing uses low pressure (around 100–500 PSI at the wall) with a cleaning solution that does the actual work. The solution kills mildew at the root, dwells for 8–10 minutes, then gets rinsed off. The result is a cleaner finish that lasts 3–4x longer.

If you've only ever seen "pressure washing" done with a wand blasting away, soft-washing looks too gentle. You almost can't see anything happening while the solution dwells.

Then the rinse hits and the walls are visibly brighter. That's when people get it.

I'll always use the right tool for the surface. If that's low pressure and chemistry, that's what I'll use. I'd rather do the job right than do it the way you've seen others do it wrong.
