That grimy brick mailbox column: quick fix

The brick or stone column at the end of your driveway is the first thing visitors see. Here's a 20-minute fix.

Brick and stone mailboxes get overlooked because they're small — but they're the first thing anyone sees when pulling up to your house.

The typical grime

  • Splash from mowing
  • Green algae on the shaded side
  • Dust and pollen
  • Sometimes wasp nests inside vent holes

The quick fix

  • Cleaning solution applied, 5-minute dwell
  • Low-pressure rinse from top down
  • Rinse gently around the mailbox door (avoid spraying inside)
  • Cobweb removal around edges

Why not a DIY brush job?

You can, but you'll be there for a while and mildew will be back in weeks. Chemistry-based cleaning kills the algae root; brushing just removes what's on top.

When I include it

Free add-on with any driveway or house wash. Tell me it's there when you book and I'll knock it out on the way to the truck. If it's the only thing you want cleaned, minimum job charge applies ($75) — which is why most people just add it to a bigger job.
