"How clean should my house realistically look after a wash?"

Expectations vary wildly. Here's what a proper professional wash actually accomplishes — and what it doesn't.

Every once in a while a homeowner is disappointed after a wash. Almost always it's because expectations weren't set. Here's what a professional wash actually delivers.

What you'll get

  • Vinyl siding restored to its original color (or very close)
  • Mildew gone from surface — no visible green or black
  • Gutters and downspouts free of streaks
  • Concrete evenly cleaned, no stripes
  • Windows rinsed (not spot-free clean unless you add window cleaning)

What you WON'T get

  • Original color on faded/chalked paint
  • Removal of embedded stains older than 3–5 years
  • Rust or hard-water stain removal without specific add-ons
  • Sealed or restored condition (that's a separate service)

What "old faded siding" really needs

If your vinyl is chalky and faded from 25 years of sun, a wash won't restore color — you're seeing the pigment break down. Washing gets it clean, but the color is what it is. Only painting or replacing solves that.

Realistic before/after

Most jobs I do produce a dramatic before/after. Some (very old, very neglected surfaces) produce a modest improvement. I'll tell you in advance which category yours is.

The honesty policy

If your house is going to underperform expectations, I say so before you book. That's why my referrals come from delivering what I promised, not what customers hoped for.
